Winter and Spring to Strengthen Strawberry's Temperature and Humidity Management

In the winter and early spring, practical measures are taken to strengthen the control and management of the temperature and humidity of the strawberries, which is crucial for increasing the yield of strawberries.

When the winter comes, the strawberry planted on the ground must be protected against the cold. Most of the methods are covered so as to achieve the purpose of heat preservation and moisturizing. Commonly used coverings include decomposed horse dung, finely crushed manure, wheat straw, rice straw, leaves, and corn stalks. The thickness covered is based on the principle of tightness of the plants, and should be covered slightly thicker in cold weather areas. Coverage time must be controlled when the soil begins to freeze. Before covering, if there is a cold current and the temperature suddenly drops, antifreeze measures should be taken. By the spring of the following year, the temperature rose and after the soil began to thaw, part of the cover was removed and the entire cover was removed before the strawberries began to sprout.

Strawberry water requirements are relatively high, the soil should always be kept moist, watering in time of drought, but watering during flowering and fruit setting should be adequate. Don't flood with plenty of water. If you don't pay attention to this, it is very easy to cause the fruit to be rotten. Strawberries are also not tolerant, and should be drained in time when there is water in the soil in rainy weather.

Now, with the continuous improvement of the covering and insulation technology, in many places, in order to ripen the strawberry fruits earlier, a pre-matured cultivation technique for sheds has been adopted. The main method is: add a small plastic shed in early spring to increase the temperature and shorten the growth period. The setting of the arch shed should be north-south and should be moderate in size, generally 3-4 meters wide, with a height of 0.8-1.2 meters in the middle and 10-25 meters in length. During the winter season, straw can be added at night to keep warm.

In the initial stage of scaffolding, the temperature in the shed may be slightly lower, and it is generally appropriate to control the shed at 14-20°C. By the peak season, the temperature in the shed can be increased to 19-26°C, but the maximum temperature must not exceed 30°C. When the natural temperature can meet the needs of strawberry growth and development, you can remove the cool seedlings. In this way, strawberries can be harvested and marketed 15-30 days in advance, and the economic benefits are considerable.
