First, feed should meet the nutritional needs

In the winter, pregnant sheep that stop milk production should be particularly strengthened in feeding and management. Especially ewes who are immature and pregnant are in need of partial feeding and careful feeding. It is mainly based on high-quality dry feeds, with a small amount of blue-green material, with some cornmeal, bran and cake concentrates. In the later stages of pregnancy, it is necessary to gradually increase the amount of concentrates and succulent feeds rich in protein, minerals, and vitamins, which can generally be increased by 1 to 1.5 kg of concentrate. However, the amount of concentrate should be controlled up to 3 days before lambing.

Second, management must be meticulous

Be sure to work diligently and keep dry, warm and sanitary. Absolutely avoid kicking, scaring, and fighting or squeezing with its sheep or other animals. If there is no snowstorm, you should stick to moderate amounts of exercise or grazing every day. When you exercise, be careful not to go too fast. Do not go steep slopes and cross the ditch. Two months after pregnancy, milking should be stopped to ensure that the ewes are healthy and have good fetal development.

Third, we should start from strengthening the constitution of the pregnant sheep and disease resistance, and do a good job in feeding management

Do not feed mildew, acidity, freezing and toxic feed, do not drink cold water and dirty water, but do not add water on an empty stomach. Sheep feeding troughs should be regularly disinfected, pay attention to changes in the weather, and prevent sudden gale and cold waves from causing pregnant sheep to become ill. Usually pay attention to observe the spirit of the pregnant sheep, diet, action and excretion of feces, and find abnormal treatment immediately. For pregnant sheep with early abortion symptoms, early medication should be taken. 10 to 30 ml of progesterone should be injected once a day until symptoms disappear.
