Greenhouse celery hollow prevention method

In winter, in the solar greenhouse, celery production often occurs hollow phenomenon, resulting in increased celery cellulose, quality deterioration, yield decline, and thus affect the income of vegetable farmers. So, what management measures should be taken in production?

First, scientific watering

In terms of production, vegetable farmers are often afraid of watering the soil more often because of the frequency of watering, thus affecting the normal growth of celery, resulting in the lack of adequate water supply for celery growth. In fact, as long as the watering is appropriate, it will not affect the normal growth of celery. Usually watered once every 15 days, the amount of water should not be too large, a small water can slip. Especially in the period of strong growth, we must ensure adequate water supply, and watering should be sufficient in about 15 days before harvest.

Second, control the appropriate temperature

Celery is a kind of vegetable with strong cold resistance. It requires cool and moist environmental conditions. The celery is cultivated in the greenhouse. The temperature during the day is 15°C~23°C, and the maximum temperature should not exceed 25°C. It should be kept at about 10°C at night to reduce nutrient consumption and hollowness can be avoided effectively. However, the minimum temperature should not be lower than 5 °C, otherwise it is prone to frost damage and convulsions.

Third, fertilizer management

On the basis of applying base fertilizer, the top-dressing fertilizer in the growing season is mainly available nitrogen fertilizer, and with the addition of potassium fertilizer, it is chased once every 15 days. The application of 0.3% to 0.5% borax solution for foliar spray fertilizer has obvious effect on the prevention of the occurrence of the hollow disease.

Fourth, timely harvest

The celery planted in the greenhouse cannot be harvested too late. When the harvesting period is too late, the petiole is often aged, the photosynthesis ability of the leaves is reduced, the ability of the roots to absorb nutrients is also weakened, and the lack of nutrition can also cause the parenchyma cells to rupture. Causes the hollow phenomenon to occur.
