The State Council Food Safety Office requires strengthening the supervision of food quality and safety

In order to effectively protect the health and safety of consumers, the Office of the State Council’s Food Safety Commission recently issued the “Notice on Further Strengthening the Supervision and Administration of Health Food Quality and Safety” to make specific arrangements for the supervision of the quality and safety of health foods.

This notice requires that health products be reviewed and approved strictly, and that companies that provide false application materials will not be approved and listed on the “black list”. Strengthen the supervision of production and circulation of health foods, organize special inspections, expand the scope of sampling inspections, and ensure that socially-recognized health food products are more frequently detected and encrypted, and in particular, strengthen supervision and sampling of products such as slimming and physical fatigue. We will increase the intensity of case investigations and severely crack down on illegal and illegal production and sales, illegal addition of chemical drugs, and false propaganda.

The circular emphasized the need to further strengthen the supervision of labeling and advertising of health foods. The contents of advertisements must be reviewed and approved by the provincial food and drug supervision authorities. Anyone who publishes and changes or falsifies the false propaganda of the approved contents without approval shall be severely dealt with according to law. Focus on rectifying the so-called disease prevention and treatment functions in health food advertisements and publicity materials, and proving efficacy in the name of an expert or patient. Seriously investigate and punish behaviors that ordinary foods claim to have specific health care functions through packaging, labels, and instructions.

This circular also requires that, in accordance with the Food Safety Law and its implementation regulations, we must promptly formulate and revise relevant regulations, regulations, and supporting documents.
