Hybrid rice - "Liuyou 234" passed certification

Recently, the reporter learned from the Hubei Provincial Department of Agriculture that the new hybrid rice combination “Liuyou 234” developed by the academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Professor Zhu Ying of Wuhan University has passed the examination and approval of the Hubei Crop Variety Approval Committee. It is expected to be widely promoted.

"Liangyou 234" is a new two-line combination in hybrid rice. It is the result of the study by the British Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences from the early 1980s. Its main characteristics are short ripening period, high yield, high rice quality, and strong resistance to stress. The ripening period was 10.7 days shorter than that of the control Yangliang 6 and the average yield per year was 636.43 kg in the two-year regional experiment, which was 5.12% higher than the control Yangliangyou 6, reaching a very significant level. It was determined by the Food Quality Supervision, Inspection and Testing Center of the Ministry of Agriculture. The quality of rice has reached the national standard of three grades; the plant contains two genes resistant to brown planthopper and has strong resistance to stress.
