Electrophoresis : In a DC electric field, charged particles move toward an oppositely signed electrode, called electrophoresis. Electrophoresis is also a separation method and technique that separates and identifies charged particles (including ions, macromolecules, colloidal particles, viral particles, such as bacteria and red blood cells) in a mixture.
Electrophoresis device : consists of an electrophoresis device (power supply) and an electrophoresis tank (support for mixing sample electrophoresis).
Electrophoresis (power): Provides a DC electric field for electrophoresis of mixed samples. The electrophoresis instrument provides constant voltage, constant current and constant power.
The voltage is divided into: high voltage > 1500V ; medium voltage  500-1500V; low pressure < 500V
Current is divided into: large current > 500mA; medium current  100-500 mA; small current < 100 mA
Power is divided into: high power > 200W; medium power  60-200W; low power < 60W
The electrophoresis instrument (power supply) of which specification is selected depends on the type of electrophoresis and the molecular weight of the sample.
Usually high voltage electrophoresis is suitable for separating small molecular mass substances such as amino acids, peptides, antibiotics and the like.
The constant power supply is suitable for isoelectric focusing electrophoresis.
High current is suitable for transfer electrophoresis.
Low voltage electrophoresis is suitable for separation of macromolecular nucleic acids by agarose gel electrophoresis.
The most used is the medium pressure electrophoresis system (such as DYY -6 ), suitable for polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, which is commonly used to separate proteins and smaller molecules of nucleic acids.
Electrophoresis tank : Commonly used electrophoresis tanks include a vertical electrophoresis tank (mainly used to separate proteins) and a horizontal electrophoresis tank (mainly used to separate nucleic acid samples). A plate electrophoresis system designed for the separation of proteins and nucleic acids usually has two types of horizontal and vertical plates. Electro-focusing and immunoelectrophoresis of proteins often use horizontal plate electrophoresis, while other forms of protein electrophoresis are often performed in vertical plate electrophoresis. Especially when using a discontinuous system for electrophoresis, vertical plate electrophoresis is much simpler than horizontal plate electrophoresis. A vertical plate electrophoresis (pictured) commonly used in laboratories. 2 flat glass, according to the size of the electrophoresis instrument. One of the upper ends is notched, and the ratio of the size of the general notch is: if the flat glass is 17cm * 19cm Standard plate, then the size of the notch is deep 2.0cm ,long 14cm . Flat glass thickness is commonly used 3mm . A flat plate gel mold can be assembled by adding spacers (also called spacers) between the two flat glass sheets, the left, the right, and the lower three sides. In order to prevent leakage of the gel solution and to make a thick and even slab gel, a strong clip must be used to clamp the two flat glass. The thickness of the shims determines the thickness of the slab gel. The most common is 1.5mm thick. In the slab gel film, after the gel solution is poured to a certain height, the sample loading comb is inserted, and the sample introduction tank can be prepared. The size of the sample tank is determined by the size of the sample comb. Therefore, by changing the amount and size of the loading comb, it is convenient to obtain the required loading slot.
The horizontal plate type electrophoresis tank is currently the most commonly used device for agarose gel electrophoresis. The horizontal plate type gel is usually filled on a glass plate on which the electrophoresis tank platform can be placed or a rubber mold with baffles on both sides. If a glass plate is used, it is necessary to use a tape or medical tape to stick the surrounding area into a wall before the glue is applied to prevent the glue from leaking. If you use a plastic mold that is purchased with the electrophoresis tank, you only need to seal both ends before filling.
Electrophoresis type: filter paper electrophoresis, cellulose acetate membrane electrophoresis, starch gel electrophoresis, agarose gel electrophoresis, immunoelectrophoresis, polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, etc.
Electrophoresis purpose: Electrophoresis technology is widely used in the separation, identification, purification and preparation of proteins, amino acids, nucleic acids, enzymes, peptides, hormones, pyrimidines and other organic compounds and even inorganic ions.
Electrophoresis technology : All universities involved in biological sciences, biotechnology, biopharmaceuticals, bioengineering (genetic engineering, cell engineering, protein engineering), such as life sciences colleges, agricultural colleges, medical schools, and hospitals with research capabilities, Bioengineering companies and so on are inseparable from electrophoresis technology. 3.0T MRI
